Artist Alley

We at Mephit Furmeet believe in offering a welcoming and nurturing environment for everyone in the fandom. With that having been said, we understand that not every artist is prepared to invest in getting a dealer's table. Hence, we offer reduced priced space in artists' alley to those trying to promote their art careers at the convention. The prices is $5 per day per space. However, because dealers pay more for the right to sell at the convention, we have established some rules for artists' alley that don't alienate our dealers. We believe that these rules offer a fair compromise between dealers and those artists trying to begin their careers.

MFM ARTISTS' ALLEY RULES

1. Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis EACH DAY. There are a limited number of spaces available. You must register for a space EACH DAY, and are not guaranteed a space simply because you had one the day before. Registration will open up 30 minutes after the dealer's room opens. A line will form outside of Artist Alley in the morning. To get your table, you must be in this line and register. After reading and signing the alley agreement, you will be assigned your table for the day. Please do not swap tables with other artists without consulting artist alley coordinator first. Any one found cutting in line or reserving a table before being given one will be sent to the back of the line.

2. Artists are responsible for filling out Tennessee Department of Revenue forms and collecting applicable sales taxes on EACH MONETARY TRANSACTION.

3. Artists must provide their own supplies. Artists may not draw on the tablecloths. At the close of each day, please take a moment to clear out your trash and leave the area clean.

4. Kindly request those patronizing your space to help keep the aisles clear.

5. This is not a full dealer’s space. As such, while you are permitted to sell your own art work, be it created on site or in a portfolio, you may not sell anything that is not your work. This includes stuffed animals, fanzines, CD’s (unless it contains only your work), or any other merchandise that you did not create. Also note that no electricity will be provided in artist alley. Even if you find yourself near a plug, you are not authorized to use electricity, as it places an additional strain on the facilities.

6. Please understand that your space is in an unsecured area of the hotel. It is very possible that non-attendees may walk by your table and see your work. Please make your best efforts to conceal any art that falls above the "PG-13" rating. If complaints are received about artwork that violates this rule, and requests to conceal the work are ignored, dealer's room staff reserves the right to ask that artist to vacate the area.

7. Artists alley is not a "matchmaking" service for the dealer's room. If you would like to network some space in the dealer's room, it is your responsibility to do so. The staff is not obligated to network on your behalf.

8. Please be respectful of the other artists and those around you.

9. Artists alley will officially close when the dealer's room closes. Please cease all commercial transactions at this point in time. Any artist caught dealing outside of the dealer's room will risk losing their artist alley privileges for an indeterminate period of time.

10. Artists alley is set up as a convenience. Artists alley is a privilege. Please cooperate with any staff member who makes a request of you regarding these rules.

If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the Artist Alley Corridnator.
